“The Black Hawk County Solid Waste Management Commission is dedicated to providing safe and effective methods in the management of solid waste in Black Hawk County, Iowa while protecting our natural resources.”
Meet Our Commission
Our Commission is a five person board that owns the Black Hawk County Sanitary Landfill and employs an Administrator to manage all Commission related tasks. We sponsor an educational outreach team and subsidize two drop-off events each year for Black Hawk County residents to properly manage household toxic materials and unwanted household electric and electronic items.
Our monthly public meetings are held at 10:00 AM in the City Council Chambers at Waterloo City Hall on the 4th Thursday of each month (3rd Thursday in November and December due to the holidays).
